Clinics and services

Community midwives

The community midwives attend the surgery every Wednesday morning to hold an antenatal clinic. An appointment is required for this clinic and can be made by contacting your midwife.

District nursing team

The district nursing team, based at Birkenhead Medical Centre on Laird Street, provides nursing care for patients in their own home. They also run a weekly leg ulcer clinic here at the surgery with a referral from the GP.

Blood test clinics

Our blood test clinics are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. You can book a blood test appointment via the NHS App or by calling the surgery. Please note that a GP needs to have ordered this blood test for you before you book your appointment.

Travel vaccinations

We can provide travel vaccinations right here at the surgery. Please note that we cannot provide any travel advice or advice on which vaccinations are necessary for your trip. If you are travelling abroad, you will need to research which vaccinations you need. You can do this either online or book in at a pharmacy that provides this advice. The NHS recommend the following websites for further information:

Vaccinations we can offer include hepatitis A, DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis), typhoid, and cholera. If you would like to book an appointment with our practice nurse, or if you require further information on which vaccines we can administer, please speak to our reception team who will be happy to assist you.

You can check your vaccination history by using the NHS App. We can also provide a print out of your vaccination history for your records.

NHS charges

The NHS provides most health care to most people free of charge. However, there are exceptions. In recent years, more and more organisations have been involving doctors in a whole range of non-medical work. Sometimes the only reason that GPs are asked is because they are in a position of trust or because an insurance company or employer wants to be sure the information provided is true and accurate. Please telephone reception for up-to-date fees.
